Word Dream #17 & #18

This one is going to be really hard. Personally, I like both the same, but *dramatically* you will have to choose!

Word Dream #15 & #16

Do you need another introduction to this post? Doesn't the title say it all? Have fun choosing a favorite of these two!
The first picture may need a small explanation. Max and I were dissecting a frog for school this year. It was gross. But we did it. I hate dissecting things now. Not only do they stink something AWEFUL, but they also require a lot of time. Anyways, that's what we're doing in the first picture. How Max could smile while the dissected frog was stinking up the whole room, I don't know. But I couldn't, so that's why I'm making a ridiculous face. :P

The Sisterhood Award

Yeah, I got nominated twice. So...I thought to make it easier for myself, as well as simpler for you all, I'd do it all in one post. A huge thank you to Jesseca of Whimsical Writings and Emily from The Imaginary World of Emily McConnell (and the real one too...). It was so sweet of them to think of me and my blog! :) But to get back to the subject... here are the rules:

*Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
*Put the award logo on your blog.
*Answer the ten (or in my case, twenty) questions sent to you
*Make up ten new questions for your nominees to answer.
*Nominate ten blogs.
Here are the questions these two girls gave me, and my crazy answers. :P

Jesseca's questions:
What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Having two pen pals (they know who I'm talking about) visit me in August! :D :D :D (yeah, I'm pretty excited...can you tell?? :P)
And of course, I'm turning 17. That's pretty exciting. ;)

What is your favorite movie this year?
Big Hero 6. Hands down. I loved that movie!!

Favorite instrument?
I'd say a tie between the piano and the flute. Those instruments I play, and I love them both. (go figure...I mean, honestly, why learn an instrument you don't like?)

Favorite genre of books to read?
Historical fiction tied with selective fantasy. (I'm picky about  the books I read...there's a lot of trash in the world.)

Favorite Bible verse?
Ahhhh! There's so many! I can't choose!!! ONE of my favorites is Philippians 4:8, but that's only ONE of my favorites.

Favorite historical era?
Can anyone guess? Anyone? Medieval times and the World Wars.

Favorite short story?
Ooo...another toughy. I really like L. M. Montgomery and Louisa May Alcott's short story's, but I can hardly pick a favorite from them.

Favorite food?
Hmm...probably a tie between pizza and pasta. Can you tell I love Italian food?

Favorite hymn?
BE THOU MY VISION. Without a doubt. That was easy...

Favorite movie soundtrack?
Another tie between "Gladiator" and "Lord of the Rings"... but I also really, REALLY like the Star Wars music. :)

Emily's questions:

You discover that someone you’ve known your whole life is in fact- not real. Reaction?
"WHAAAT?!?!!!??!!!!!"

Favorite old TV show? (has to be earlier than the eighties)
Zorro, the complete first and second season.

You open your door to discover the dandelions in your yard have actually turned into real lions. How are you going to take care of this problem?
Get into the house ASAP and call the zoo. Maybe shoot one or two just to be able to say to my friends in a nonchalant voice, "Oh, I forgot to tell you...yesterday I shot a couple lions."

Guinea pigs or chinchillas?
I don't really particularly like either a lot. But since my older brother owned a couple guinea pigs once, I'll say guinea pigs.

Do you follow world/national news much?
Sometimes. Right now it's so depressing that I don't really want too.

What’s your favorite verse in Revelation?
Revelation 1:8. "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Which Nordic (Scandinavian) country do you want to visit? Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Denmark or Norway?
Iceland. They've got the awesomest ponies EVER. The only ponies I like better are Shetland Ponies from Scotland.

Do you know what the Baltics are?
Yes. But don't ask me to explain. ;)

If one of your fictional characters (or a character from your favorite TV show or movie or book) was to be your mentor, who would you choose and why?
Obi-wan Kenobi. Simply because I know he'd have the patience to deal with my crazy personality. Oh, and I'd love to learn how to use a light saber. :) Besides...he's awesome. What more could you want in a mentor?

And finally- would you rather be bucked off a horse and break your arm and a rib, stepped on by an elephant and break your leg or nearly drown in a river?
Nearly drown in a river. At least I wouldn't have any broken bones to deal with. And besides, I'd only NEARLY drown...and that's not so bad since I'm pretty used to almost drowning. Every time I try to swim I "nearly drown". So it wouldn't even be that traumatic. :P

Here's my questions for those I nominate:

If you could make a movie, what would it be about?
How do you spend your time on a rainy day?
If you could ask God one question, what would it be?
What do you think is the best way to make new friends?
What's the best meal your mom/dad cooks?
What is something you want to learn how to do and why?
If you had to live in a different state, which state would you choose?
If you could change one thing about your personality, what would you change?
If you could have ANY animal as a pet, which animal would you choose?
If you had to choose, would you be blind, deaf, or dumb? Why?

Pretty much everyone I know has already gotten nominated, but here's what I'll do-anyone who has a blog and wants to do this-take my questions and answer them. You don't have to link back to me or anything. I'll enjoy reading your answers though! Just tell me if you are going to answer them and I'll drop by your blog and comment on your answers.
Have fun and God bless! :D

Word Dream 2

Another picture for your enjoyment! :)
A little background to the following picture: the girl in the picture is me. Our family had a slab of cement in our yard that was about twenty feet long by seven feet wide and about four to five inches thick. A couple weeks ago we had a work party at our house and destroyed the cement, loaded it, and carried it to our dump. The object of this project is to hopefully have a bigger cement slab made in the same place were basketball, tennis, and pickleball can be played.
The hardest part of the job was swinging the sledge hammer to break the foundation. My brother Maxwell challenged me to take out a section of cement and I took him up on it. It was hard, and by the next day I could count every muscle in my shoulder, but I took out that section of rock! I tell you, a little grim determination can get a job done! :P

Word Dream

So, maybe some of you have heard of this, maybe not. It's an app for iThings, and I fist found it when my mom said, "Hey, Rebekah, I think you would really enjoy this!" And I did! Google it if you have no idea what I'm talking about. It'll probably give you better information than I can. :P Basically, the app gives you a choice between taking a picture, using their pictures, or using pictures from your archives. It then takes the picture and lets you choose a font style to put words on the picture. Then you have the option of either making up your own quote or borrowing one of theirs for the picture to "say". I've had loads of fun making these, and I'm toying with the idea of having you guys send me in a Word Dream Picture of your own for the next Photo Contest. Check it out on your own (I'm pretty sure the app is free) and let me know what you think in a comment.
Here's a link to it: Word Dream App
But anyways, I had some fun putting together some pictures with it and I decided to share them, one at a time, in posts. Here's the first:

July 4th

This has been a depressing year to say the least in our country's government. The decisions they have made, the things that they chose to vote into existence have been downright wrong.
But please, don't give up on our land. Keep praying for our President, and all the persons in the Supreme Court. The devil will try to use them, but in the end, God wins. He is still in control, no matter what it seems.
It's been hard for me to see our country going down hill so fast. Things have been happening that I never dreamed would happen. Things that to me is obvious sinful behavior has been slipped into our society as acceptable. And I know I'm not the only one.
I have had to pray and put my faith in God. I trust Him, but it is still a temptation to think: Why are You letting this happen God? How can we Christians fight darkness if darkness is lawfully acceptable?
So far, being a Christian in America is easy. We go to church publicly, have freedom of speech, freedom of press, and freedom to worship God any way we choose.
Maybe this is God's way of testing our true love for Him. When Christianity is no longer easy, we'll know who all are true Christians and who all aren't. This is a time during which our faith in God can be made stronger than it ever has been, or a time where our faith will crack under the strain and remain broken.
So please, pray, read your Bible, and trust in God. He knows what's going on in our lives. He was the one who decided that the Supreme Court would vote on those issues, He put our President in his office. I know He is, was, and always will be in control. Let's thank Him for it more often.
And remember:

Lord of the Rings: Part Two

Part two is going to focus on “other” characters of Lord of the Rings that aren’t hobbits. Here you go! Hope you enjoyed these posts!

Gandalf:

Why? Because HE IS SOOOO AWESOME!!!!! Not to mention, calm, cool, and composed in emergencies, always knows what to do and when to do it, can handle anybody, and is not afraid to voice his opinion. Who doesn’t like Gandalf?

Spotlight scene: Oh wow, there are so many it was hard to choose, but I thought I would narrow it down to two. First, when he lets of fireworks to the hobbit children trailing his wagon, and secondly, whenever he fights.

Favorite Quote: “Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?”

The Ents:

Why? I put these in as a collective character but of course my favorite Ent is Treebeard. They too are awesome in their own way, but I especially love how slow and thoughtful they are. Even though their carefulness gets a little frustrating to poor Merry and Pippin. :P

Spotlight scene: When they say “good morning.” :P

Favorite Quote: “It takes such a long time to say things in our language that we don’t say anything unless it is worth the effort to take a long time to say it.”

Legolas:

Why? He’s awesome. And cool. And he and Gimli make an awesome pair. Despite their differences. Loyal to the end and a really good archer. And he never runs out of arrows! What better combination is there? :P

Spotlight scene: Again, he has so many it was hard to choose, so I ended up having to narrow it down to two again. First, when he and Gimli have a drinking competition, secondly, any time he fights.

Favorite Quote: “Yet do not cast all hope away. Tomorrow is unknown.”

Gimli:

Why? You probably figured that he was coming next. ;) Yup, he’s awesome too, though in a different way. Short and stocky, he is the complete opposite of his elf friend, Legolas. But a fierce fighter and a loyal companion, I wouldn’t dream of leaving him out of this post.

Spotlight scene: Another hard one to narrow down awesome scenes! I also narrowed his spotlight scene possibilities down to two: first, when he and Legolas have a competition to see who can kill the most orcs and he wins. Second, as they run across country to help find Merry and Pippin.

Favorite Quote: “I’m highly dangerous over short distances!”

Aragorn:

Why? He. Is. Awesome!!!!!!! I can’t say enough about this guy. He is a born leader, but listens when others command. He can fight like nobody’s business. And he has a really cool sword. I could go on and on, but I won’t because I still have two more characters.

Spotlight scene: All the time?

Favorite Quote: “If by my life or death I can protect you, I will. You have my sword.”

Elrond:

Why? AH! They’re all so awesome! But to be more specific, I like this guy because he’s an awesome: father, leader, warrior, friend, and advisor. What more can I say? That explains it all!

Spotlight scene: At Rivendell. And any other time he shows up. :P

Favorite Quote: “I have seen three ages in the West of the world, and many defeats, and fruitless victories.”

Eowyn:

Why? I don’t know…maybe it’s because she loves her brother so much, and maybe because she is such a good sister/daughter even when the circumstances are difficult. She has a strong spirit and is steadfastly true to those she loves. Anyways, she is probably my favorite girl in the movie.

Spotlight scene: When she gives Aragorn a bowl of soup. (It makes me laugh every time…without fail!)

Hope you enjoyed these two posts! I'll be back to posting a little more often, and I have some fun in store for you...keep tuned in! ;P

Lord of the Rings: Part One

Ok, finally after a hectic week I found time to post my favorite Lord of the Rings characters. I’m going to do this post in two parts…so actually it will end up being a couple posts. First, I want to post my favorite hobbits, namely: all the hobbits in the movie. :P I mean honestly, who doesn’t like hobbits? They’re all awesome! :D Here they are in order:

Merry and Pippin:

Why? These two hobbits are pretty much inseparable. They are not only pretty much the only funny persons in the movie, but they will stick with one to the end even when they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into. :) They love adventure, risk, and helping others. One can’t ask for better companions on a perilous journey.

Spotlight scene: Setting off the dragon firework. (One of my favorite scenes in the whole movie! ;)

Samwise:

Why? He is the most awesome of all the hobbits by far and is the very personification of loyal friendship. Without him, Frodo never would have made it to the mountain, let alone gotten the strength to destroy the ring.

Spotlight scene: When he’s baking potatoes for Frodo. (Another favorite scene of mine…and one that I quote a lot, like whenever we have potatoes for dinner. :P)

Frodo:

Why? Ok, so Frodo is also awesome. And really good at dying. :P I think that the actor got that part in Lord of the Rings because he was so good at dying. I mean, who can actually foam at the mouth at will? Not me! He followed Gandalf’s instructions and was the only one who had compassion for Gollum. A good reminder to us to exercise compassion on unbelievers.

Spotlight scene: When he realizes what he almost did after he destroys the ring.

Bilbo:

Why? You don’t get much of his personality in Lord of the Rings, but since I’ve read The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I have a better idea of what he’s like. He has a funny sense of humor, enjoys comfort, but will go on adventures if he has too. He and Gandalf work best together, and even though he hold Gandalf in awe, they are still good friends.

Spotlight scene: His speech. (Which is totally AWESOME! I love it more every time I read/watch it! :P)
Part Two...coming soon! :) (I hope... :P)
