Spectacular Book Tag

Ahh....books. I just can't resist them. ;) Or tags about them. So when Jonathan from The Second Brother tagged me, how could I say no? :P Anyways, hope you have fun reading my answers! :)

The Rules:
1. Answer the questions
2. Tag 3 to 5 bloggers

The Questions:

1. What are your favorite book covers?
I have to be a bit bias here...I really love the covers to my books "Alice & Alyssa" and "The Silver Flower". ;)

However, I also really like the cover to this version of "The Hobbit":

2. What are your favorite book titles?
Ready for a list? :P I have a lot of favorite titles of my own books:
The Princess & I
Beyond the Galaxy
Into the Future
But also a bunch from other authors:
Escape from Warsaw
(and also this book's original title: The Silver Sword)
King of the Wind
Free
God's Smuggler
They Dared to Return
Alone, Yet Not Alone
The Silent Blade
A Wrinkle in Time
Fair Blows the Wind
These are only a few. Believe me, I could have come up with a LOT more!! ;)

3. Have you read a book and didn't know why they named it that and what was the title?
Actually, and this is surprising to me since I never really thought about it until this question came up, I have never read a book that's title didn't make sense with the book's plot. I've heard from certain sister's of mine that a few of Sir Walter Scott's books have titles that don't make sense, but I haven't read any of his books (yet) so...yeah. :)

4. Have you read a book with a character that made you mad?
Peter, Ender's older brother from Orson Scott Card's book Ender's Game. He was just downright mean. Cruel, actually. For the record, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under sixteen, and it's not a book meant for girls. I liked the plot, but there was a lot of rudeness in it that I had to skip over.

5. Is there someone or something from a book you would never want to come across?
I could name a lot of villains here. Like every-villain-from-every-book-ever. I have to say though, I'd REALLY hate to come across a Nazgul from Lord of the Rings (or goblins, or orcs, or wargs...the list goes on from there).

6. If you could meet a character in person from a book who would it be?
Either Sam Gamgee (from Lord of the Rings) or Breandan Mornelly. It's a tie. ;)

7. What book are you currently reading?
A couple actually. :) I'm s-l-o-w-l-y working my way through a three book biography about Theodore Roosevelt (which is absolutely fascinating, but very long), The Idiot's Guide to American Literature for school, and some other various books by author friends on blogs. You know who you are. B-)

8. Have you read a book that made you cry?
I don't really cry while reading books. Neither to I usually cry while watching movies. I know, I'm rather unfeeling in that way. :) I've had suspiciously damp eyes a couple times, but I never actually cried. I do remember reading a story recently (Beauty in the Storm by Jesseca Dawn) which did bring me to the point of tears. It was beautifully written. :')

9. What is the weirdest book you read?
A Wrinkle in Time was an odd book. Also a few of Jack London's and Edgar Allen Poe's books were weird...to say the least. I can't remember their titles right off the top of my head, but they were weird. ;) I don't read much of them on purpose, but for American Literature I did have to read a couple.

10. What is the worst book/series you ever read?
For the most part I try to steer away from terrible books. So probably the worst book I've read is either Martin Eden by Jack London (not recommended reading) or Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Now, just to clear some things up, neither of these books are BAAAAD in the worst sense of the word...just not the best for a Christian, homeschooled young lady. :)

11. If you could only read one more book the entire year what would it be?
I'm assuming you mean OTHER than the Bible? ... Aw man, I just realized that I missed an opportunity to use the easy out. Bother.
*tries to think of longest possible book in house*
Ok, to answer your question it would either be War & Peace, Les Misrables, or Moby Dick. All three books I want to read sometime in the future (you know, just to "wow" people... "You have read War & Peace! WOW! That's impressive!"...why not? :P) so if I had a whole year to focus on only one book, I'd probably pick one of them.

Who I'm Tagging: I tried to think of people who hadn't gotten this tag yet, and would be willing to try it...and came up with a few:

Sharon Small from The Smallest Small
Jesseca Dawn from Whimsical Writings and A Kansas Wind
Emily McConnell from The Imaginary World of Emily McConnell
Jonathan from Fishing for Ideas

Hope you had fun coming up with answers! Let me know if you're planning on doing this and I'll drop by to read your answers! :) Have fun! God bless!

  1. I had so much fun reading through this! I think it's so neat how even though a couple people had the same questions, the answers are so much different!
Wow, "Beauty in the Storm" got you to the point of tears? That's high praise for a writer. :) I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Haha, I want to read "War and Peace" as well, and for the same reason. ;)
Thanks so much for tagging me! I'll work on getting it done soon!

    1. Everyone is a little different...I always like reading other people's answers for the same reason. :)
I look forward to reading your answers! :D

  2. Haha, yep! That would be a great way to "wow" people. XD You've read "Fair Blows the Wind"?!?!? Is there more than one book with that title, or is that by Louis L'amour?
I enjoyed reading your answers, Rebekah! :D

    1. I was talking about the one by Louis L'amour. But I'm sure that title has been used by others...it's an awesome title. B-)

    2. Cool! My Dad and brother are Louis L'amour fans, and they've tried to convince me to try some of his books. ;)

    3. If you do, start with the Sackett books. They're the best by FAR. Most of the other books by him are variations of the same plot lines of that series. :)

    4. Oh, they love the Sacketts too! :D I've started "Under the Sweetwater Rim", but whether I'll read any of the others I'm not sure. ;)

  3. This was really fun to read, Rebekah! Quite a few of the books you mentioned I've read before or are favourites of mine :D

Oh my goodness, yes, Ender's game IS really horrid! I had to read it for Grade 9 English, otherwise I would never have even touched the book!

Hehe, you chose A Wrinkle in Time as an odd book too? ;) Who was your favourite character?

    1. I could feel for Meg some of the time, but I really liked her dad and mom best. Which is partially why that book is so awesome. It's a rarity to find a story written for kids where the parents are actually MORE awesome than the kids. :)

  4. What an awesome tag idea! I have to say, I'd be hard pressed to answer some of these questions, but it's nice that it makes you think.

I love the purple on your blog. It's really pretty!!

    1. Hey, thanks for dropping by and commenting! Yes, it was hard to answer some of the questions...but some were ok. ;)
I like the purple too...one of my favorite shades, but I have SEVERAL. (Don't ask me what my favorite color is. I'd be like "Blue. No, green. No, black...no, I take that back, I like purple. Dark purple...ACTUALLY, I take all that back...I like blue best...etc. You get the picture. B-)

I said "A Wrinkle in Time" for the weirdest book I've read too! ;)

And I finished answering the questions, so I'll probably be posting my answers tomorrow... or when I figure out who I'm going to tag... ;)
