New Month, New Page...

Hey, look at me! I've got a new page!! :) :) And no, I didn't mean to post this right when everyone is posting their various goodbye's to March...I'm just weird and never find time to make a Monthly update. Maybe at the end of April...hope springs eternal. *shrugs*

But anyways, back to the subject...
(I also ditched the "My Stories" page because I now have a BUTTON for my story blog. ^_^ That makes me feel so... professional)
Over the last couple years I've been accumulating different poems that I've written for different occasions. (Even a couple songs: Lead Me, Lord, God is There and Waiting!)
I hope you will check them out and give me an honest opinion on them for me. :)

Also, to put in a word for my story blog: if you're interested in learning some of the things I'm writing about, be sure to check it out! Most of my writing that I publish online will be on that blog. The exception is a fan fiction story I'm posting next week.
Which, btw, I'm pretty sure you'll want to read if I do say so myself. I had a blast writing it!!! ;)

An Easter Poem

I know, I know...I'm sure you are all sick of reading my poor attempts at poetry. However, I'm still going to force you to read this! BWAHAHAHA!! }:)

Actually, you don't need to read this...I was kidding about that. ;)

But really, why would I write a poem this Easter? (I mean, other than the fact that I wrote one last Easter...)
Well, as a writer, every time I read books I play a game with myself called the what-would-happen-if-I-switched-the-POV-in-this-book game. It's fun, you should try it sometime. :)
Also Dad is a pastor...most of you already know that...and he's preaching through Luke right now on Wednesday nights and we're in the second chapter.
So combine those two things and the fact that Easter was coming up really rapidly and you get my poem.
Basically, in a nut-shell, the poem is about our Savior's journey to earth and back again from His perspective.

And so now I give you, without further ado:

The Journey of Christ:

My Father said "go" so I went
To a world that towards hell was bent
To save them from sin
And over death win
My Father said "go" so I went

My Father said "stay" so I stayed
As a babe in a manger I laid
I know that I cried
But I never lied
My Father said "stay" so I stayed

My Father said "grow" so I grew
In stature and in wisdom too
I healed and taught
And loved a whole lot
My Father said "grow" so I grew

My Father said "die" so I died
Father forgive them! I cried
They knew not what they
Were doing that day
When Father said "die" and I died

My Father said "wait"; I obeyed
As in the ground I was laid
In the tomb for three days
My followers in a haze
My Father said "wait"; I obeyed

My Father said "rise!" so I rose
And all that was left were the clothes
Mary Magdalene came by
She didn't know I was I
When Father said "rise!" and I rose

My Father said "reveal" so I did
To all who doubted I bid
To look at my hands
And the hole in my glands
My Father said "reveal" so I did

My Father said "come" and I came
Not everyone was to know My name
That would come in time
I'd save all who were Mine
But Father said "come" so I came

Soon Father will say "go" and I'll go
To be King of the whole earth below
My servants will praise
Father and Me all their days
When Father says "go" and I go

Have a wonderful Easter celebrating the fact that we can rest in the knowledge that our Savior stands at the right hand of God and intercedes for us every moment of every day! Hallelujah!

We serve a risen Lord!

The Lord Bless You and Keep You

This song was preformed by four kids from our family along with a few friends from our church.
Here's the order of people from left to right: (I'll only give first names for security reasons)
Grace, Rebekah (me), Kathryn, Paige, Maxwell (my brother), David (another brother), Peter, and Joseph. Kathryn, Peter and Joseph are the other sibling group. Other than that, we're not related. :)
Grace and I are the sopranos, Kathryn and Paige are altos, and the guys (obviously) are the guy part. ;P
My sister Margaret (of sarcastic "get to know me tag" fame) is the piano player, our director is her former piano teacher, Brittany.

(By the way, go over to Emily's blog to read the first part of an all-new fan fiction story that I wrote! :)

If You Want to Laugh...

Sometime recently my older sister Margaret did the "Getting to Know Me Tag" in answer to me. I read it this evening and spent the next twenty minutes chortling over her answers. XD
Seriously, if you're feeling glum, sad, or need something to buck up your spirits, read this post.
(Click anywhere in this sentence and you'll be there.)
Tell them (and me!) what you think! :D

More Than You Wanted to Know...

A big thank you to Jesseca from Whimsical Writings! I saw some various other blog authors do this yesterday, and wondered curiously when I would be tagged...it took a little over twenty-four hours. ;) Seriously though, I hope y'all have fun getting to learn more than you wanted to know. B-)

>>Vital Stats:

Name: Rebekah Marie Eddy

Nicknames: Reba, Becks, Bekah, Horse Freak, Sunshine-girl, PK, and Cheesy (that was for the grin I pull when someone is trying to take my picture unexpectedly. ;)

Place of Birth: Port Orchard, Washington. We're right across from Seattle.

Worst School Subject: (yeah, I know, I added this one...)

Need I say more? ;)

>>Firsts:

Best Friend: Jesus. (Oh, not the obvious answer? Fine...) Siblings.

Award: The Liebester Award on my blog. Several times, actually. :) Also, I've won Second and Third Place for stories. And I'm close to getting my certificate for graduating high school! (Super excited about that one! ;)

Sport: I'm not very good at any one sport in particular...I dabble in several (my brothers drag me into playing with them. ;) These include American football, volleyball, Ping-Pong, basketball, baseball, softball, and Frisbee. I'm pretty much horrible at all of them, but it's a way I can hang out/interact with my brothers. :)

Real Holiday: Ok, so when you're an older sister in a family of twelve, no vacation is "real". Most of the time you're "vacationing" you're making meals, picking up after messy younger siblings, or babysitting while your parents have a well earned date night.

However, I have been to Canada once when I was four:
I went to Ethiopia with my Dad (missions related) when I was fourteen:

And back and forth to Cannon Beach OR several times.

You get free nights there sometimes if you're a full-time pastor's family! Surely one of those times count, right? ;)

Concert:
I went to a Piano Guys concert in Seattle one Christmas. That was AWESOME. I highly recommend their music...I should warn you, they are Mormons...but very talented Mormons. :)

>>Favorites:

Film: ONE??? What are you asking me??? I'll try to narrow it down to six:
The Giver
Big Hero 6
Ever After
The Princess Bride
Star Wars
Lord of the Rings
There could have been LOTS more, believe me! Count yourselves lucky.

TV Show: Zorro (the black and white version).

Color: Blue. No Green. No Purple. No Black. No Silver. No Blue...bother. I like them all!

Song:
Favorite Hymn: Be Thou My Vision
Favorite Popular Song: You Raise Me Up
Favorite Love Song: a tie between Love is Like an Ocean and Don't Give Up

Restaurant: I'm not picky. Anything Italian, Mexican, or American is just fine with me. :)

Books: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! NOT THAT QUESTION!! In through the nose, out through the mouth, in through the nose, out through the mouth....
I'm assuming you don't want me to chose the easy out: the Bible. Bother.
You're going to have to have another list:

Fiction:
The Chronicles of Narnia (by C. S. Lewis)
The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy (by J. R. R. Tolkien)
The Mysterious Benedict Society (by Trenton Lee Stewart)
The Black Stallion Series (by Walter Farley)
The Wingfeather Saga (by Andrew Peterson)
The Anne of Green Gables Series (by L. M. Montgomery)
The Sacket books (by Louis L'amour)
1-6 The Mornelly's (by Emily McConnell)

Non-fiction: (other than the Bible)
The Hiding Place
If I Perish
By Searching
Unexplained Mysteries of WWII

>>Currently:

Feeling: Like all is right with the world. And a little hungry.

Single or Taken? I'm a Christian, homeschooled seventeen-year-old girl who's dad is a pastor. Make a wild guess. ;)

Eating: I'm not allowed to eat by our computer, so nothing right now...but in an hour, I'm going to start making pizza for dinner with my older sister. *licks lips* Can't wait!

Watching: Nothing right now. Probably The King & I later tonight though. Dad has an executive board meeting, which makes our chances pretty hopeful since mom will probably try to take a nap or something while he's gone. ;)

Wearing:  A black tee-shirt and jean skirt. No surprises there. ;) I'm usually wearing either black or gray or jean every single day despite my sparkling personality. B-) And I'm barefoot as usual. ;)

>>Future:

Want Children? As many as God will give me!

Want to be Married?  I think maybe this question should have gone first...it kind of goes without saying that if I want children of my own I'll also want to get married...so my answer is a resounding yes! ;)

Careers in Mind: I don't know if one would call being a mom a career, but that's what I'm hoping to be when I "grow up". In the meantime, I'd like to write, write, and write some more! :)

Where do you want to live? I'm pretty happy right where I am...but it would be awesome to live anywhere in the British Isles: Scotland, Ireland, or England preferably. B-)

>>Do You Believe In:

God: Obviously.

Miracles: Absolutely.

Love at first sight: Depends on the persons involved. I think it can happen, but VERY rarely.

Ghosts: No. (Really, who would WANT to believe in ghosts?)

Aliens: Nope.

Heaven? Yes, hallelujah. I'd be in an awful spot if it weren't, as would we all!

Hell: There too. Aren't you glad God sent His Son to take away our sins so we don't have to go there? I know I am!

Kissing on the first date: NO! I've been to a LOT of weddings, so I know at the end there's this thing called "a first kiss". Which means that that special kiss should absolutely NOT be used already! Patience is a virtue people!

Yourself:
Sometimes. But when I start thinking that I can do everything, usually that means a pin is headed my way to pop my blown up ego.
It's a delicate balance. It's important to be confident in the things I do, but I also need to make sure I'm not being overly confident in myself.
"We can do all things THROUGH CHRIST..."

That was fun! :) Hope you had fun reading about me. I know I had a lot of fun coming up with answers. ;) Here's who I'm tagging:

Sharon from The Smallest Small
Lydia Scott from C'est La Vie
Emily McConnell from The Imaginary World of Emily McConnell
Sarah and Margaret Eddy from Preparing for the Ultimate Career

One last thing before I go, I just thought I'd warn you:

Until I post again...
God bless!

Just for Kicks & Giggles...

And because I just couldn't resist posting such a funny quote. Not one of my own, but funny nonetheless. Unfortunately, I don't know who originally came up with this, but to whoever it was: I like it!
Sounds like something I wish I would have said AFTER talking way to much about nothing. (Anyone else have that problem?) ;)

Spectacular Book Tag

Ahh....books. I just can't resist them. ;) Or tags about them. So when Jonathan from The Second Brother tagged me, how could I say no? :P Anyways, hope you have fun reading my answers! :)

The Rules:
1. Answer the questions
2. Tag 3 to 5 bloggers

The Questions:

1. What are your favorite book covers?
I have to be a bit bias here...I really love the covers to my books "Alice & Alyssa" and "The Silver Flower". ;)

However, I also really like the cover to this version of "The Hobbit":

2. What are your favorite book titles?
Ready for a list? :P I have a lot of favorite titles of my own books:
The Princess & I
Beyond the Galaxy
Into the Future
But also a bunch from other authors:
Escape from Warsaw
(and also this book's original title: The Silver Sword)
King of the Wind
Free
God's Smuggler
They Dared to Return
Alone, Yet Not Alone
The Silent Blade
A Wrinkle in Time
Fair Blows the Wind
These are only a few. Believe me, I could have come up with a LOT more!! ;)

3. Have you read a book and didn't know why they named it that and what was the title?
Actually, and this is surprising to me since I never really thought about it until this question came up, I have never read a book that's title didn't make sense with the book's plot. I've heard from certain sister's of mine that a few of Sir Walter Scott's books have titles that don't make sense, but I haven't read any of his books (yet) so...yeah. :)

4. Have you read a book with a character that made you mad?
Peter, Ender's older brother from Orson Scott Card's book Ender's Game. He was just downright mean. Cruel, actually. For the record, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under sixteen, and it's not a book meant for girls. I liked the plot, but there was a lot of rudeness in it that I had to skip over.

5. Is there someone or something from a book you would never want to come across?
I could name a lot of villains here. Like every-villain-from-every-book-ever. I have to say though, I'd REALLY hate to come across a Nazgul from Lord of the Rings (or goblins, or orcs, or wargs...the list goes on from there).

6. If you could meet a character in person from a book who would it be?
Either Sam Gamgee (from Lord of the Rings) or Breandan Mornelly. It's a tie. ;)

7. What book are you currently reading?
A couple actually. :) I'm s-l-o-w-l-y working my way through a three book biography about Theodore Roosevelt (which is absolutely fascinating, but very long), The Idiot's Guide to American Literature for school, and some other various books by author friends on blogs. You know who you are. B-)

8. Have you read a book that made you cry?
I don't really cry while reading books. Neither to I usually cry while watching movies. I know, I'm rather unfeeling in that way. :) I've had suspiciously damp eyes a couple times, but I never actually cried. I do remember reading a story recently (Beauty in the Storm by Jesseca Dawn) which did bring me to the point of tears. It was beautifully written. :')

9. What is the weirdest book you read?
A Wrinkle in Time was an odd book. Also a few of Jack London's and Edgar Allen Poe's books were weird...to say the least. I can't remember their titles right off the top of my head, but they were weird. ;) I don't read much of them on purpose, but for American Literature I did have to read a couple.

10. What is the worst book/series you ever read?
For the most part I try to steer away from terrible books. So probably the worst book I've read is either Martin Eden by Jack London (not recommended reading) or Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Now, just to clear some things up, neither of these books are BAAAAD in the worst sense of the word...just not the best for a Christian, homeschooled young lady. :)

11. If you could only read one more book the entire year what would it be?
I'm assuming you mean OTHER than the Bible? ... Aw man, I just realized that I missed an opportunity to use the easy out. Bother.
*tries to think of longest possible book in house*
Ok, to answer your question it would either be War & Peace, Les Misrables, or Moby Dick. All three books I want to read sometime in the future (you know, just to "wow" people... "You have read War & Peace! WOW! That's impressive!"...why not? :P) so if I had a whole year to focus on only one book, I'd probably pick one of them.

Who I'm Tagging: I tried to think of people who hadn't gotten this tag yet, and would be willing to try it...and came up with a few:

Sharon Small from The Smallest Small
Jesseca Dawn from Whimsical Writings and A Kansas Wind
Emily McConnell from The Imaginary World of Emily McConnell
Jonathan from Fishing for Ideas

Hope you had fun coming up with answers! Let me know if you're planning on doing this and I'll drop by to read your answers! :) Have fun! God bless!
