As I’ve
grown older, this word has come to mean more to me. And as I continue getting
older, I’m sure it will still. I admit to using it lightly (“Oh, I LOVE that
skirt!!”)…don’t we all? But I think we all need to realize that we really
shouldn’t use that word so carelessly. After all, it’s a word that God uses to
describe His relationship with us, so we should be aware of how we use it and
make sure we use it properly!
I realize
there are different meanings to the word “love”. It can be used in a variety of
ways. Anything from that sisterly “love ya bro (or sis)” to a certain sibling
every once-in-a-while to a deep, passionate “I love you” to the man of your
dreams. Each are appropriate in the right context. I’m just trying to remind us
all (myself included) that we need to use this word carefully…not careLESSly.
Alright.
Rant over. ;) I sure hope that makes sense to more people than my own some-what
frazzled brain…
Onto the
REAL reason I wrote this blog post… :)
In honor
of today, I wrote a love song. Now, before you throw whatever electronical
device you’re using to read this blog post from you with a scream of horror,
let me explain WHY I wrote this blog post. :P
As my
graduation has crept closer over the years, I have had more and more people
asking me what I’m planning on doing after I finish high school. I’m sure most
of you have experienced this. What do you say? “Nothing”? “Come back in five
years and I might have an answer then”? “Dunno”? When I tell them what I’m REALLY planning on
doing, which is: “eventually marry a Christian young man and have as many kids
as God will allow to educate at home”, they just look at me funny.
So
finally, I brainstormed one night until I came up with a perfect, 100% truthful
answer to that question: “I’m going to patiently and willingly wait at home
until God chooses to show me what His will is for my life. When He does, I’ll
do it.” Sounds simple, right? Well, no, it’s not that simple…but at least I
have an answer. ;)
Anyways,
after coming up with that, an idea for a poem popped into my head. I wrote it
down on a whim and from there it evolved into my first (and probably last) love
song.
Here it
is for you to enjoy (hopefully!) :)
Waiting…
I don’t
know just who you are,
I don’t
even know your name,
Whether
you live near or far,
In
poverty or in fame.
Someday
soon I’ll meet you,
I’ll come
into your life.
Someday I’ll
say “I do”
And then
become your wife.
(Chorus)
I’ve
prayed for you
And
dreamed of you
I’ve
wanted to make you laugh.
God will
send you,
I’ll
await you,
Ready to
become your other half.
Sometimes
you seem so close
And yet
still very far away.
Sometimes
I wish for just one dose
Of your
love to come my way.
If I saw
you in a crowd
I’d never
guess you were you,
If you said your name aloud,
I’d never
guess that too.
(Chorus)
God
please grant me lots of grace,
Keep me
patient, keep me still,
I’ll at
some point see his face,
Then I’ll
know it was Your will.
I’ll stay
right here while I wait
Trusting
in Your sovereign plan,
Marriage
is never run by fate,
You
control both me and my man!
I’ve
prayed for him
And
dreamed of him
I’ve
wanted to make him laugh
You will
send him,
I’ll
await him
Ready to
become his other half.
Happy
Valentine’s Day!
God
bless!
Wow. I loved reading this post! I was like "Yes, I can so relate!" :)
ReplyDeleteAnd that song is really good. I enjoyed reading it. Do you have music for it?
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteWell, I sort of have music. In my head. But I don't think that was what you were asking. I don't have any WRITTEN music...but I'm working on it. :)
This is so amazing and sweet, Rebekah! I love the song! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
Delete"Amen" to everything you said! I try to (often unsuccessfully) not use the word "love" lightly, but only when I truly mean it. That song is beautiful and something that I think many Christian girls struggle with. It is awesome! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Waiting is hard! I speak from experience! And that is partially why I wrote that song... to be an encouragement to other Christian young ladies who need it! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteYes, it was great! Thanks again!
DeleteAww, I LOVE the song, Rebekah!! :) It's so pretty and sums up all my feelings on the subject. :) I've got lots of those questions too. "What colleges are you looking into?" My answer: "ummm...." xD
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I'm glad I'm not the only one. B-) You're welcome! :)
DeleteAnd neither of you are alone either! lol, I'm only a FRESHMAN and I'm getting all those questions!
DeleteWow! That is a really good song/poem Rebekah!
ReplyDeleteI think you "hit the nail on the head" with the words in your song on how most Christian young ladies feel. (including me!)
Very nice job! :D
Thanks! :)
DeleteBy the way...I just saw that you placed in the CC contest! Congratulations! Will you be posting your story on here?
ReplyDeleteI probably will on my story blog. Thanks for the congratulations! I was pretty excited myself. :) Yell-the-news-to-everyone-in-the-house-whether-they-wanted-to-hear-it-or-not-then-tell-all-my-friends-at-church-the-next-Sunday excited. B-)
DeleteAwww, so sweat.I ll.... I mean, I thought your song was very encouraging. :)
